First day of school survey – Printable and Editable!

Published September 17, 2016 by MisMandie

This is a repost of an earlier blog entry since it is that time of the year again.  And I am updating with my little one’s first day of 1st Grade Photo just for the fun! 🙂

You can change the wording, colors, and anything else you like very simply in either Open Office (click to download for free) or Microsoft Word.  Once you get it the way you want it, you can simply print on your home printer, or you can use Zamzar to convert it to a high resolution photo and have it printed at your local drug store.  I chose to have mine printed in 8×10 size and also got a copy for each set of grandparents.

Now that you have a copy you love, you can get a cute frame and have your child pose with it for their first day of school photos and after that get a binder with sheet protectors or photo album and place it inside….then next year, just pull up your handy editable file and repeat.  When they

graduate you will have a wonderful memory book to look back on and see how your child has changed from 1 year to the next! 🙂

FREE PRINTABLE CALENDAR – November 2014 – So much to be thankful for!

Published November 6, 2014 by MisMandie

November 2014 calendar is here (even if it is a bit late)!!!!  Feel free to use and pass along if you like for personal use.   I complied and arranged this calendar, but the images are NOT MINE, they were found via internet search and are the property of the image creators.

It is created in Open Office (Word editable) so you can add images and text before printing to keep your little one up to date on the upcoming events of the month. I have a few on there for Em already that you can reuse or delete for Dance Class, Family Nights, Birthday Parties and Holidays.

Previous calendars have images for art classes, fire hall meetings, doctors appointments, craft shows, dentists, and birthdays, even our puppy Scooter’s Birthday! See Jan Calendar Post ,  Feb Calendar PostMarch Calendar PostApril Calendar PostMay Calendar Post, June Calendar Post, July Calendar Post,  August Calendar Post September Calendar Post and October Calendar Post for additional images and ideas! :)

Kindergarten Prep Progress Chart

Published January 8, 2014 by MisMandie

As we start to get Em ready for her transition to kindergarten, it is important that she get used to sitting still and staying focused on her lessons.  Since she hasn’t been in a daycare she hasn’t had much experience in the classroom environment as of yet this is the biggest area we need to work on with her.  Thus we have decided that from here on out, we will spend a set amount of time each day sitting at her table working on her lessons starting with a 1/2 hour then working up to a full hour at a time.  Lessons will vary from activities such as:

  • Writing practice with letter tracing pages and her LeapReader writing books
  • Reading practice and phonetics
  • Math concepts such as simple addition and subtraction
  • Geography concepts such as basic map reading skills (north, west, east, south), State shape recognition, and basic concepts of city, state, country & continent

Here is a little chart I have come up with to keep track of how we are progressing toward our goals.  It is built in Word and can be modified to fit your child’s needs! And please remember every child progresses and learns differently, this plan is based on the education level of our child and may not reflect the needs of yours.  Do not force concepts on a child that is not ready and do not slow down a child who is more advanced!  Either one can lead to lifelong learning issues and an overall unhappiness with school and learning.   Just make it fun and let them set the pace. 🙂
